A super FUN Launch Set!
- Helicopter Nosecone Recovery
- Cool Cat Decals
The Magician is a rocket of substance (that means it is large and impressive). It is a design I like to look at. Good job designing one good looking rocket. Don't let the large size convince you that it won't fly very high. With the E engines it will really get up there!

I used E9-6 engines, the rocket flew straight and out of sight. The height was amazing. Nothing fancy in construction, simple glue and two coats of paint. This model is amazing. Great fun and performance is superior.

Launched the rocket with a D-12-6, first flight and rocket went almost out of sight. When I used an E the rocket went out of sight. It took off much faster, much further. I could only track the smoke the rocket makes when the parachute deployed. BUT the rocket is very effected by the wind. Maybe going to a smaller parachute will help?

well we finally got the magician off the ground we bumped up the engine size to an E-12-6 ....That rocket was outa sight ....it flew very well what I could see recovery system worked well I did cut the center out of chute glad I did it drifted about 500 yards from launch site ...my neighbor kids were my spotters and they kept a good eye on it ... my construction methods must have been right on (epoxy always works best) because I had no damage what so ever...so my next project will be a 2 stage rocket extreme 12 I'll let you know how that goes..... nose cones if you have a loose cone instead of monkeying around with tape use a small single screw no more lost nose cones..thats it we'll see ya

I was building estes rockets 44 years ago and they've come along way since then; bigger rockets and better engines..It was a great hobby then and it looks like its going to be a great hobby now... I started with the magician ...construction was pretty straight forward and I didn't run into any unforeseen problems... before I started assembly I prepped the tube with bondo glazing and spot putty to fill in the spirals ,,,I used 5 minute epoxy for assembly and to build up the fillets on the fins then finished with the bondo..I primed it with 4 coats of primer sanding between coats with 400 grit paper .. finished with yellow lacquer and cleared the whole thing after the decals were on, if you want a good finish this is what it takes... we're going to shoot it tomorrow i'll let you know how it goes...I plan on doing a few of the skill 3 and 4 rockets then I'm going to the pros.....good job estes keep it up

Just put it together yesterday! Used D12-5 both times. Awesome flights good shut deployment and really did not take that long to come down! Low wind so came down with in 50 yards of launch site. Really recommend!
