Tons of Fun
- Minor assembly!
- Cool swirled plastic colors!
- Best Seller!
I have went though around 4 of these because I love them. This was my first rocket kit years back (made the mistake of using c engine on first flight lol). I would recommend this to beginners who have used ARF rockets E2X, and skill level 1 rockets before this and to experienced people who are just wanting to have fun.

GREAT ROCKET BUT MUST USE ENERGIZER MAX BATTERY OR IT WONT WORK! ESTES NOTE: The battery statement pertains to the orange 9V launch controller. The rocket itself does not take a battery.

Always was fascinated and a small child when my father who recently passed would launch all his different rockets... Was always simply amazed by them... Now my dad is gone and I have a 6 year old daughter myself I deceived to buy this amazingly wonderful piece of entertainment equipment... I've now purchased a second an plan to buy one each week to launch with her... Got her the foot stomp air rocket and that is a hit for her and her friends... Then daddy breaks out the thousand footers and really launches... So far 12 successful launches landings and recoveries

Had Family over for our 7 year old Grandson's Birthday Party.
Followed al instructions to a tee. Came time to launch, controller would not work. I wonder how easy it will be to exchange for a functional controller. My son and I have launched many rockets before without any issues. he looked at it and I looked at it. just not functional. ESTES NOTE: IF the controller is the orange one that requires a 9V battery, a very high quality battery is required. Ones we have tested and know will work are the following: Fuji EnviroMAX (HOME DEPOT). Rayovac Ultra Pro (WALMART/AMAZON). Energizer Max (HOME DEPOT/WALMART).

I am a long time model rocket person but when I flew Taser I was absolutely amazed. This is a great rocket for gifts that will surely get non-rocketeers interested.

My 9-year old son received the Taser launch set as a birthday present. Assembling it was fairly straightforward though he needed help gluing together the engine section.
The first launch from a huge field on a clear day with a light breeze using an A8-3 engine went fine (although the included Astron Launch Controller didn't seem to work - used an E Launch controller we had instead) and my son was able to chase it down and catch it before it hit the ground.
On the second launch we used a C6-5 engine, and yes, I'd say it hit 1100 feet as advertized. The parachute opened, and we could see it drifting across the sky and across the field before getting lost in a forested patch a half mile away never to be seen again.
I would recommend cutting a small (quarter sized) hole in the center of the parachute to increase the fall rate so as to reduce the risk of the rocket traveling farther horizontally than vertically.
All that said, it was an awesome sight seeing the rocket take off and tunnel through the sky, even though it only happened twice.

I built and flew a number of Estes rockets as a kid. I was in a craft store, saw the rockets and immediately felt nostalgic. Without hesitating I purchased this kit. Assembly was easy and the rocket and launch pad/controller functioned perfectly. Less than a week later I own a total of 6 rockets, and plan to build some custom birds in the near future. You absolutely cannot go wrong with Estes kits for a great introduction to an awesome hobby!! Keep up the great work Estes!

Me and my friend launched this bad boy the other day. We used a C6-7 engine and this thing just took off. I was able to see it all the way up and subsequently watched it head into the woods about 600 yards down range. Good thing my bud had other rockets to launch cause we were never gonna find this thing. Would buy again!
