Great basic semi scale kit. Very nicely molded fins and nose cone. Kit easily modified to build a more realistic scale kit. Modifying this kit to build a scale Nike-Apache rocket. Will fly great on G to H motors. (Posted on 7/11/13)
The kit is high quality, and easy to build. The plastic fins should be durable, and are shaped perfectly. First flight for mine was on 1/5/13 using a G80-7. Arrow straight stable boost to well over 2000'. Nothing not to like. (Posted on 1/8/13)
This kit is for those who are looking for a great mid power experience. It assembles very easily and looks fantastic. This thing roars of th pad with a F and or G motor. This is a must have for mid power flyers, let's hope Estes takes some other models and Pro-Series them as well (Black Brandt?, Mercury Redstone?) keep up e great work! (Posted on 9/6/12)
This is another of the Estes Greats. Not only now, as an enjoyable kit to build & fly, but to invest in also. One day, this Kit will be on the "Gotta Have" Classics list. Get 'em NOW, the More, the Merrier! (Posted on 8/10/12)
Its a great kit! Excellent quality and detail on the nose cone and fins. Hugh strength materials and construction. Easy to put together. Great motor retention system. I can't wait to fly it on a G80. (Posted on 8/1/12)
To a rocketeer there is nothing than a good scale model.
The Nike program produced ground to air defense missiles, but the Nike Smoke was a NASA's sounding rocket. It's extraordinary 10-degree nose cone was filled with titanium tetrachloride solution which left a winding smoke trail. Scientists used photographic analysis to give us new information of high altitude wind patterns in the 1960s and 1970s with hundreds of launches. (Posted on 6/19/12)
