Very nice looking. I used diluted wood filler on the fins and sanded them down smooth and it turned out great. I also went with the paint scheme on the picture. Looks awesome. (Posted on 9/14/11)

I bought this kit two days ago (see the summit kit for a review of my impulse buy that day too!) because I was looking for something to build that had this fin design. I really enjoyed building this kit. If you have any experience with Estes kits it follows the same build formula that other easy kits have (motor mount, sand/mount the fins, mount the motor mount, recovery system, paint, finish, done). I'll admit that I didn't put the finishing into this kit that I did with some of the others because I was anxious to fly it. If you're a "finishing perfectionist" be prepared to spend a little time there since its a balsa nose cone in addition to balsa fins.

I only had one motor left to give this a test fly today- a B6-4. Very straight flight with a reasonably well timed chute deployment. I'd probably try a B6-6 on this kit as I like the kit to roll over or even descend a little before chute deployment.

No regrets adding this one to the fleet. In fact I'll probably buy it again so I can do a better construction/finishing job before putting it to paint. (Posted on 8/1/11)
