Designer Interview
I was influenced for VIPER's radical design from several fighter planes around the world. The design enables superior control at low speeds for takeoff and landing - plus enables it to fly very fast.
The radical design of the VIPER is known as a "blended flying wing". The non-traditional tail surface is blended into the outer wingtips, to provide more stability in flight. Another result of the airframe is more wing area than a traditional plane, which produces more lift for better flight.
I positioned the vertical stabilizers on the outer tips at the rear of the plane and added lower wingtips to contribute to the performance and maneuverability, and I like the way they contribute to the "fighter plane" look. The M.A.S.C. Controller also helps make the VIPER lots of fun to fly!
